The Summer Volunteer Program at the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute
Volunteers are a welcome and important part of the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute (ISCI) at the University of Miami School of Medicine. We are a growing scientific center at the Medical School and offer a rigorous and exciting summer program for college students who are interested in broadening their research skills and scientific knowledge.
We welcome enthusiastic and hard-working volunteers to partner with seasoned research scientists in our laboratories. Volunteer positions are available through the first week of June through the middle of August. Volunteers generally devote 15-30 hours per week with the scientist with whom they work, thereby providing an opportunity to learn the intellectual process as well as the hands on experience of research.
If you are interested in spending a portion of your summer learning about the advances in adult stem cell technology and performing cutting edge research, look through the ISCI website to learn more about us. You must submit an application.
Volunteer Program Requirements:
- Be at least 16 years of age (some positions have an 18 years of age minimum)
- Commit to volunteering a minimum of 10 hours/week
- Commit to lab work between 8 – 12 weeks during the summer
- Submit a volunteer application
- Attend a Volunteer Orientation after acceptance to the program
